Jakers Restaurant in Missoula Announces Closure of Brooks Street Location

Jakers, a well-known restaurant in Missoula, has announced the closure of its Brooks Street location, leaving customers and residents surprised and disappointed. The news was conveyed via an email to Jakers customers and gift card holders on Tuesday morning, indicating that the restaurant will be shutting down to make way for something new. The abrupt announcement follows a series of closures of other eateries on the south side of the city, including HuHot and Denny’s, signaling a significant shift in the local dining landscape.

The email sent to patrons simply stated, ‘Jakers Missoula is closing. Something new coming. Thank you for your patronage.’ However, no further details were provided, and attempts to reach a corporate spokesperson for additional information were unsuccessful at the time of the announcement.

This development comes as a surprise, especially considering that less than four months ago, HuHot had also permanently closed its doors, as indicated by a sign placed in its window. The successive closures of HuHot and Jakers, both situated on Brooks Street in the Midtown area of Missoula, have raised concerns among residents about the changing business landscape in the region.

Notably, the closures are not limited to these two establishments, with other southside businesses such as Denny’s, Lucky’s Market, and two Subway locations also succumbing to the challenges. Meanwhile, a contrasting trend is observed in other parts of the city, particularly on North Reserve, where several new restaurants have recently opened, signifying a shift in the city’s culinary scene.

The closure of Jakers, a beloved dining spot in Missoula, marks another loss for the local community and adds to the growing list of shuttered businesses on the south side of the city. As residents come to terms with this news, the void left by Jakers’ departure will undoubtedly be felt, further emphasizing the evolving dynamics of the city’s restaurant industry.
