Italian Exports Surge by 10.7% in April, Led by Growth in Key Markets

Italian exports saw a significant increase of 10.7% in April compared to the same month last year, according to recent data released by Istat, the national statistics agency. This growth was accompanied by a 2.3% increase in exports from March to April, while imports experienced a slight rise of 1.4% year-on-year.

The positive trend in exports was noted across various trade partner countries, including both EU and non-EU nations. Of particular significance was the upturn in exports to Germany, which marked the end of a year-long period of decline in trade between the two countries.

In terms of the trade balance, April 2024 saw a surplus of +4,807 million euros, with a deficit of -228 million euros recorded for EU countries and a surplus of +5,036 million euros for non-EU countries. Excluding energy, the trade balance surplus stood at +8,595 million euros.

These latest figures indicate a positive trajectory for Italian exports, with a notable recovery in trade performance following a challenging period. The increase in exports to key markets such as Germany bodes well for the country’s economic outlook and trade relations moving forward.

As Italy continues to navigate the global economic landscape, the latest data from Istat provides encouraging insights into the resilience and competitiveness of the country’s export sector. With ongoing efforts to strengthen trade partnerships and enhance market access, Italian exports are poised for further growth and stability in the months ahead.
