Illenium Faces Backlash for Using AI to Design Flier

Dance headliner Illenium recently faced criticism from fans online after using artificial intelligence to design a flier for his upcoming shows at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The poster, featuring an image of Illenium on the Golden Gate Bridge, was quickly labeled as ‘ugly’ by fans who urged the artist to hire a real artist instead of relying on AI.

In response to the backlash, Illenium took to social media to address the situation. He admitted that while his management team had worked with a designer and paid for multiple options, they ultimately chose to use the AI-generated art. Illenium acknowledged the oversight in the design and assured fans that new artwork would be released soon.

Despite the explanation, some fans were not satisfied with Illenium’s response. Criticism was directed at the artist for seemingly shifting blame to his management team instead of taking responsibility for the decision.

Illenium, managed by Ha Hau from Global Dance in Denver, did not provide further comment when reached out to by Billboard.

As the controversy continues to unfold, fans are eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the new artwork for Illenium’s San Francisco shows. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
