HP Inc. has officially launched its HP Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) 108mm Bulk Printing Solution, the latest advancement to its TIJ 4.0 Printhead technology. This new solution is designed to disrupt industry packaging processes, offering high speed, high resolution, and longer throw distances up to 10mm.
According to Philippe Lesage, VP and GM, Specialty Printing & Technology Solutions at HP, the company continues to invest in TIJ technology to drive meaningful innovations that enhance productivity, output quality, and ease of use. The HP 108mm Printhead is now available to support customers globally with various wide-swath high-volume printing applications without stitching.
Customers can leverage HP’s TIJ 108mm Solution for secondary coding and marking, late-stage packaging, wide-swath mail addressing, and specialty packaging. The solution allows for printing extensive 1D and 2D barcodes and characters vertically or horizontally at the highest level of barcode scores for its speed, as well as the required readability.
The Printhead features built-in pressure regulation, creating added flexibility in design with the custom positioning of the ink delivery system. Powered by HP’s innovative Smart Servicing Solution, the system ensures clean, crisp prints with fresh ink guaranteed at the nozzle, even when the Printhead is left uncapped for 24 to 48 hours.
The system also allows the installation of two bulk supply systems with auto switching, enabling supplies to be automatically switched when depleted. This simplifies a typically complicated procedure while minimizing the dependence on a highly trained workforce and achieving non-stop production. The system’s low part replacement costs and lower costs per print with bulk cartridges ensure the ‘cost of ownership’ is on par with industry alternatives.
According to Pat Harnett, Director of Portfolio, Strategy & Development, Specialty Printing & Technology Solutions at HP, the HP 108mm Printhead has been specifically designed to accelerate overall design time and market readiness for OEMs. OEMs can easily integrate the Printhead to their systems and configure it for the application with the simplified enabler kit from HP. The Printhead and the Ink cartridge can be replaced in minutes without operator training, allowing for continuous printing, reduced downtime, and more seamless production to help offset rising labor and material costs.
