The Hollywood Reporter’s executive editor of awards coverage, Scott Feinberg, has released his first Oscar projections of the year, updating his assessment of all 23 categories. Feinberg’s forecast is based on conversations with voters and industry insiders, analysis of marketing and awards campaigns, as well as the history of the Oscars.
Feinberg’s frontrunners for Best Picture include ‘Barbie’ from Warner Bros., ‘Oppenheimer’ from Universal, and ‘Past Lives’ from A24. Other contenders in the list are ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ from Apple, ‘Poor Things’ from Searchlight, ‘The Holdovers’ from Focus, ‘American Fiction’ from Amazon/MGM, ‘The Zone of Interest’ from A24, ‘Maestro’ from Netflix, and ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ from Neon.
For Best Director, Feinberg lists Christopher Nolan for ‘Oppenheimer,’ Greta Gerwig for ‘Barbie,’ Martin Scorsese for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ Jonathan Glazer for ‘The Zone of Interest,’ and Celine Song for ‘Past Lives.’
In the Best Actor category, Feinberg’s frontrunners include Paul Giamatti for ‘The Holdovers,’ Bradley Cooper for ‘Maestro,’ Cillian Murphy for ‘Oppenheimer,’ Jeffrey Wright for ‘American Fiction,’ and Leonardo DiCaprio for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon.’
For Best Actress, Emma Stone is listed as a frontrunner.
