HMD Global set to launch its first smartphone under its own brand name

The smartphone market is about to welcome a new player as HMD Global, the company behind Nokia phones, is gearing up to launch its first smartphone under its own brand name. The exclusive first official render of the upcoming device has been revealed by 91mobiles, offering a glimpse of what to expect from HMD’s debut in the competitive mobile industry.

According to industry sources, the new HMD smartphone, with the model number N159V, is set to make its entry into the market soon. The render showcases a simple and understated design, hinting at its positioning as a lower mid-range device. The back of the phone sports a matte finish in black, while the material of the back panel remains undisclosed. The absence of antenna lines suggests that the frame may be constructed from plastic.

On the front, the device features a flat display with a punch-hole selfie camera. The right side of the phone houses the power and volume buttons, adding to the minimalist aesthetic of the device. Notably, the render also reveals the new HMD logo, which was previously spotted in an EUIPO listing, indicating a fresh brand identity for the company’s upcoming line of phones.

With the model numbers N159V and TA-1585 both certified on the IMEI database on the same day last year, it is speculated that they could belong to the same series of smartphones. The upcoming HMD smartphone is expected to mark the company’s foray into the market as it seeks to carve a niche for itself in the competitive mobile landscape.
