Google Wallet Adds Support for 30 New U.S. Banks, Bringing Total to Over 5,000

Google has added support for 30 U.S. banks to the Google Wallet app, bringing the total number of supported banks to over 5,000. This move follows the addition of roughly a hundred new banks in December and January, signaling Google’s commitment to bolstering Google Wallet as its primary digital banking and wallet app on Android.

The expansion of supported banks in Google Wallet comes as Google prepares for the shutdown of Google Pay in the U.S. The company had previously announced that Google Pay will officially be discontinued on June 4, 2024. To facilitate the transition, Google is diligently working to ensure broad support for as many banks as possible within Google Wallet.

In March, Google added 30 new banks to the Google Wallet app in the U.S., further solidifying its position as the go-to digital banking platform for Android users. This effort builds on the steady progress made by Google, with 42 new banking institutions added in January and 44 in December 2023.

The latest additions to the Google Wallet app span across 14 different U.S. states, reflecting Google’s commitment to inclusivity. Users of these banks can now seamlessly add their digital bank cards to the Google Wallet app for Android, enhancing their digital banking experience.
