Google Sheets users, get ready for a speed boost! Google has recently announced significant improvements to its browser-based spreadsheet editor, promising a doubling of calculation speed for certain browsers.

Regardless of the file size or complexity of your tasks, the enhancements aim to deliver a noticeable performance upgrade. The change, attributed to a shift from JavaScript to WebAssembly for code processing, is expected to particularly benefit users working on larger and more intricate formulas.

These updates follow previous enhancements such as smooth scrolling for desktop, expanded cell limits, and the introduction of Gemini – a feature that can summarize spreadsheets and generate project plans based on data from various sources.

Google emphasizes that users running formulas, creating pivot tables, or using conditional formatting will experience faster calculations, but the speed improvements are currently exclusive to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge users.
