Golden State Warriors to Showcase Talent at 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend

The Golden State Warriors are set to make a strong showing at the 2024 NBA All-Star weekend in Indiana, with a player competing on each day of the event. The Warriors’ rookie, Brandin Podziemski, will be participating in the Rising Stars game on Friday, followed by Stephen Curry taking on WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu in a 3-point shootout on Saturday. Finally, Curry will play in the All-Star game on Sunday.

Podziemski’s selection for the Rising Stars game marks the Warriors’ fifth selection in the past five years. He has demonstrated impressive performance, boasting the highest plus-minus of any Warrior this season (+163) and ranking in the top five among rookies in double-doubles (6).

The Rising Stars game is a four-team, three-game mini-tournament comprised of NBA rookies, sophomores, and G-League players. Podziemski was drafted by NBA Hall of Famer Pau Gasol and will be competing alongside standout rookies, including Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Each game in the mini-tournament will be played to a Final Target Score, adding an exciting twist to the competition. The Rising Stars practice will take place on Friday morning, followed by the games in the evening.

On Saturday, the highly anticipated 3-point shootout will feature Stephen Curry, the NBA’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers, facing off against Sabrina Ionescu, the 2023 WNBA leader in made threes. Ionescu’s challenge to Curry comes after she set a WNBA and NBA single-round record in the 2023 WNBA 3-Point Contest. Curry, a two-time winner of the NBA’s 3-point contest, will compete with an NBA ball from the 3-point line, while Ionescu will use a WNBA ball.
