Gladiator 2 Early Footage Impresses Studio Executives

Early Gladiator 2 footage has reportedly blown studio executives away

Gladiator 2 has received glowing early praise, with reports suggesting that studio executives have been impressed by the early footage of Ridley Scott’s epic historical sequel. The film, which recently wrapped filming, is set to take place over 20 years after the first film, with Paul Mescal starring as Lucius Verus, the son of Empress Lucilla (Connie Nielsen). While the official plot is yet to be released, Scott has revealed that we’ll meet Lucius as a man living ‘in the wilderness’, having last seen his family 15 years prior.

Joining Mescal in the movie are Denzel Washington as a wealthy arms dealer, Joseph Quinn as co-emperor Caracalla, and Fred Hechinger as co-emperor Geta. Pedro Pascal, Moon Knight’s May Calamawy, and Derek Jacobi also star in the film. Scott spoke about casting Mescal in the lead role, expressing his confidence in the actor’s potential to reach the same level of success as Russell Crowe.

Additionally, Ridley Scott is reportedly in talks to direct an untitled Bee Gees movie, and his latest movie, Napoleon, is set for release on Apple TV Plus. For more upcoming movies, fans can also look forward to the 2024 movie release dates.
