Former World’s Strongest Man ‘The Mountain’ Reveals 8,000-Calorie Diet

Former World’s Strongest Man champion Hafthor Bjornsson, also known as ‘The Mountain’, is back in bulking mode as he prepares for the Arnold Strongman Classic. In a recent video on his YouTube channel, he shared his full day of eating, giving viewers a glimpse into his rigorous 8,000-calorie per day diet.

After retiring from competitive strength sports and venturing into boxing, Bjornsson is now focused on packing on strength and size to support his workouts. To achieve this, he consumes over 8,000 calories daily, enlisting the help of his father, Björn Þor Reynisson, as his personal chef to ensure he enjoys his meals.

His day starts with a breakfast of eggs and rice, enhanced with chicken stock for flavor, accompanied by a shake made of orange juice, blueberries, and skyr, an Icelandic dairy product. Bjornsson has adjusted his dairy intake, opting for skyr with every meal to avoid inflammation.

For his second meal, he indulges in a classic combination of steak, broccoli, and rice, complemented by the same fruit and skyr shake, along with a sports drink to replenish electrolytes lost during intense workouts.

The third meal consists of more steak, vegetables, rice, and his staple juice. Bjornsson shares his strategy for consuming large quantities of food without feeling too full, emphasizing the importance of treating eating as work to maintain efficiency.

To satisfy his hunger between lunch and dinner, Bjornsson enjoys sourdough toast with jam, peanut butter, and bananas. He expresses his love for snacking, highlighting the significance of consistent calorie intake throughout the day.

For dinner, his wife Kelsey prepares ribeye steak, green beans, and more rice. As the day winds down, he concludes with a final meal of steak, avocado, and mixed vegetables.
