Ford Announces Major Recall of 1.89 Million Explorer SUVs Due to Safety Hazard

Ford has announced a major recall of approximately 1.89 million Explorer SUVs due to a safety hazard. The recall affects Ford Explorer sports utility vehicles from model years 2011 through 2019. The issue stems from the trim potentially detaching, posing a risk to other vehicles on the road, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents.

The potential detachment of the trim increases the likelihood of a crash, as reported in NHTSA documents. Ford has acknowledged 568 consumer complaints and over 14,000 warranty reports related to detached or missing parts. However, the automaker stated that no crashes or injuries have been linked to this issue.

Notably, the recall applies to Explorers from the 2011 through 2019 model years. Ford has indicated that only 5% of the recalled Explorers are expected to be affected by the problem. The company has assured that dealers will inspect and replace the A-pillar trim as necessary, free of charge. Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notifications about the recall starting March 13 and can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, with the recall number 24S02.

This recall serves as a significant development in the automotive industry, emphasizing the importance of addressing potential safety hazards promptly and effectively.
