Ford and Lincoln have unveiled their latest infotainment system, Digital Experience, which is based on Android technology and offers a range of new features including the ability to download apps and watch videos on the touchscreen.
The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus was the first vehicle to showcase the new system, but Ford has now provided more details about its capabilities and what customers can expect from the infotainment in their vehicles.
One of the key features of the new system is the integration of popular apps directly into the native interface. Users can download apps such as Spotify and Waze from the Google Play store, allowing them to access their accounts even without their phones being in the car. Additionally, Google Maps comes preloaded as the primary navigation method.
While parked, the system enables owners to stream video content from apps like YouTube and Amazon Prime Video on the lower touchscreen. The system also supports the downloading of games, and users can play with a Bluetooth-connected controller. Ford is also planning to add video conferencing apps to the system in the future.
The new infotainment system aims to create a seamless connection between the customer’s electronic devices and their vehicle, aligning with the growing trend of connected devices in households. With an emphasis on providing a familiar digital experience, Ford and Lincoln are striving to make customers feel at home in their cars.
