Florida Man Files Negligence Lawsuit Against Dunkin’ After Exploding Toilet Incident

A Florida man has filed a negligence lawsuit against Dunkin’, alleging that he sustained severe and long-term injuries from an exploding toilet at one of the coffee chain’s locations in central Florida. The customer, Paul Kerouac, is seeking more than $100,000 in damages in a lawsuit filed in state court in Orlando.

The incident reportedly occurred a year ago at a Dunkin’ location in Winter Park, Florida. Following the explosion, which left Kerouac covered in human waste and debris, he sought assistance from the store’s employees and manager. According to the lawsuit, an employee acknowledged that there had been previous issues with the toilet, indicating awareness of the problem.

Kerouac’s attorney, Scott Spradley, mentioned that his client suffered bodily injury and has required mental health care and counseling since the January 2022 incident. Dunkin’, based in Canton, Massachusetts, has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.

This lawsuit raises concerns about the safety and maintenance practices at Dunkin’ locations, prompting attention to the potential risks posed to customers. The outcome of this legal action could have implications for the company’s responsibility in ensuring the safety of its facilities.
