Fire Weather Watch Issued for Central Nebraska

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for central Nebraska, set to take effect on Thursday, April 11. The watch comes as a result of anticipated northwest winds blowing at speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 45 mph. Additionally, relative humidity is expected to drop to as low as 15 percent, creating conditions where any fires that ignite could spread rapidly.

The National Weather Service – Hastings has advised residents to exercise caution when partaking in activities that may lead to the start of a fire. The NWS Hastings noted that a Fire Weather Watch signifies the forecast of critical fire weather conditions, urging individuals to stay tuned for further forecasts and potential Red Flag Warnings.
