The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to dog owners across the country regarding a recent dog treat recall that could pose a danger to pets. The FDA announced a voluntary recall of ‘Green Tripe dog treats’ manufactured by TDBBS LLC, under the ‘Barkworthies’ and ‘Best Bully Sticks’ brand labels, due to potential contamination with ‘metal objects.’
According to the FDA, 3,551 bags of these dog treats have been recalled, which were distributed nationally in retail stores and online between February 2024 and May 2024. The presence of metal objects in the treats could potentially harm dogs, although there have been no reported injuries or illnesses related to the affected products so far.
If dog owners suspect that their pets have consumed the recalled treats, they are advised to monitor them for any signs of illness or unusual behavior and contact a veterinarian if necessary. The recall specifically pertains to certain lots of Barkworthies and Best Bully Sticks ‘Green Tripe’ treats with specific UPC codes, item numbers, lot codes, and ‘best by’ dates.
Owners who have purchased the affected products are instructed to cease feeding them to their pets immediately and dispose of them. TDBBS LLC is collaborating with distributors and retailers to ensure that the recalled products are no longer available for sale and have been removed from inventory.
