Falcam, a brand under Ulanzi, has introduced the TreeRoot Quick Lock Travel Tripod, a refined version of Peak Design’s Travel Tripod that offers several innovative features. The tripod, crafted using a blend of aluminum and carbon fiber components, bears a resemblance to Peak Design’s model but boasts significant enhancements.

One of the notable improvements is the use of twist locks, along with an interchangeable center column that adds versatility to the tripod. The low-profile ball head has also been upgraded to provide better functionality and can accommodate various accessories effortlessly.

Unlike its predecessors, Falcam’s TreeRoot takes a unique approach by combining the strengths of existing designs while introducing new elements uncommon in the tripod industry. PetaPixel has been testing the TreeRoot and will be releasing a detailed review soon.

One standout feature of the TreeRoot is its redesigned ball head, which not only supports the company’s quick-release plates but also works seamlessly with other Arca-style plates. The inclusion of a leveling bead, a self-locking switch, and a ball head friction dampening knob enhances the overall user experience.

Moreover, the tripod’s center column, constructed from lightweight metal, can be detached for inverted use. Falcam offers an interchangeable top section for the column, allowing photographers to attach a preferred tripod head, further expanding the TreeRoot’s functionality.

While the center column lacks storage space for accessories, Falcam has strategically placed attachment interfaces at the base of the tripod to accommodate additional gear. These interfaces include a 1/4″ Arri expansion threaded hole and carry strap holes that are compatible with the company’s Maglink system.
