England Fan’s Budget-Friendly Trip to Germany for Euros

An England fan recently made headlines for his budget-friendly trip to Germany to watch the Euros, spending just a mere 74p more than if he had stayed home to watch the game on TV. Callum Ryan, a 23-year-old football enthusiast, opted for a Ryanair flight from East Midlands Airport to Berlin, costing him only £32.95. This was just slightly more expensive than the £32.21 ticket to the fan zone at Box Park in Shoreditch, London.

Upon arriving in Berlin, Mr. Ryan explored the city with a friend, taking in the sights and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. He then headed to the city’s fan zone, where he was pleasantly surprised to find out that entry was free on the day of four exciting Euro 2024 matches. The fan park, located near the iconic Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate, offered a memorable experience for the football-loving traveler.

During his visit, the online content creator indulged in a hotdog and a beer, spending just €8 (£6.78) for the meal. This was notably cheaper than the prices at Box Park in London, where a hotdog costs £7.75 and a pint can set you back between £6 and £7. Mr. Ryan expressed his satisfaction with the affordability and the overall experience of the German fan zone.

Reflecting on his trip, Mr. Ryan shared, ‘My plan was to immerse myself in the fan zone and the city for a day. The atmosphere in the German fan zone was fantastic, with everyone in high spirits and a sense of camaraderie reminiscent of previous Euro events. The food was great, the people were friendly, and the overall vibes were positive.’

Mr. Ryan’s adventure to Germany to watch the Euros serves as a testament to the exciting and budget-friendly opportunities that sports fans can explore. With a bit of planning and a spirit of adventure, experiencing major sporting events in person can be both affordable and memorable.
