Electrolux Group Recalls Frigidaire and Kenmore Electric Ranges Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

Electrolux Group has recently reannounced a recall of Frigidaire and Kenmore Electric Ranges due to fire and burn hazards. This recall comes after multiple fires and injuries have been reported, highlighting the potential dangers associated with these appliances.

The recalled Frigidaire and Kenmore Smooth-top Freestanding Electric Ranges pose various hazards related to the surface heating elements. Depending on the model, these elements can turn on spontaneously without being switched on, fail to turn off after being switched off, or heat to different temperatures than selected. These issues significantly increase the risk of fires and burns for consumers using these ranges.

About 203,000 units are included in this recall, with the ranges having been previously recalled in August 2009. Consumers who own these affected appliances are urged to take action to address the potential hazards they pose.

The recall involves various models from Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery, Frigidaire Professional, and Kenmore Elite smooth-top electric ranges. These ranges feature rear panel rotary knobs and digital displays and were sold in different colors, including white, bisque, black, and stainless steel.

To determine if their range is affected, consumers can locate the brand name, model, and serial number on the frame of the drawer at the bottom of the unit when opened. The recall includes specific model and serial numbers for both Frigidaire and Kenmore Elite ranges.

Consumers are advised to contact Electrolux Group through their toll-free number or online channels to participate in the recall. Based on the serial number of the appliance, it will be determined if the range can be repaired. If repair is possible, a free inspection and repair will be scheduled. For ranges that are deemed irreparable, consumers will receive a refund in the form of a $50 electronic gift card and reimbursement of up to $60 for the haul-away fee for the recalled range.

It is crucial for consumers with impacted ranges to take immediate steps to prevent potential burn injuries, including not leaving anything on the range when it is not in use. By following the instructions provided by Electrolux, consumers can ensure their safety and mitigate the risks associated with these recalled electric ranges.
