Eden Rose Diamond Fetches $13.3 Million at Christie’s Luxury Auction

In a recent auction event at Christie’s New York Luxury Week, a stunning pink diamond known as the Eden Rose diamond fetched an impressive $13.3 million, surpassing its presale estimates. The auction, which included a variety of luxury items ranging from jewelry to wine, amassed a total of $70.3 million.

The 10.2-carat fancy intense pink diamond, described as internally flawless, stole the spotlight as the top diamond of the spring auction season globally. The success of this auction was evident as sales exceeded 137 percent of the presale low estimates, with bidders from around the world participating. Notably, over half of the winning bids were placed through Christie’s online platform, and nearly half of the buyers were new to the renowned auction house.

While the Eden Rose diamond took center stage, other exquisite pieces also garnered significant attention. Among them, an 84-carat yellow diamond pendant sold for $2.2 million, and a 2.3-carat blue diamond ring fetched $2.1 million. The luxury showcase extended beyond jewelry, with a Richard Mille Limited Edition RM56-02 AO Tourbillon Sapphire watch commanding a remarkable $3.1 million, setting a new record for Christie’s. Additionally, a black crocodile Hermès Birkin bag emerged as a top seller, doubling its estimated value to sell for $214,200.

Noteworthy achievements were also seen in the wine category, where the Fine and Rare Wines Online sale established six new world records. Leading the pack were a dozen bottles of Petrus 1982 and Petrus 1989, each selling for $43,750. The auction revealed a growing interest in luxury goods among Millennials, who accounted for 30 percent of all buyers.

With more auctions on the horizon, including upcoming events featuring jewelry, handbags, and wine, Christie’s continues to captivate collectors worldwide. As the year progresses, all eyes will be on the prestigious auction house to see what new records may be set in 2024.
