Easton Photographer Documents Year-Long Walks Along Karl Stirner Arts Trail

An avid Easton photographer, Edward Shaughnessy, has embarked on a year-long project documenting his walks along the Karl Stirner Arts Trail, showcasing his work in an exhibition titled ‘KSAT 2021: A Walkabout.’ The exhibition features 365 photos of the trail and its art, capturing the natural beauty and artistic charm through Shaughnessy’s lens.

Shaughnessy, who has been an attorney in Easton for over 35 years, found solace in the daily treks along the 1.75-mile trail, using them as a means of personal wellness and a creative outlet for his passion for photography. His dedication to the project is evident in the meticulously crafted images, some of which are available as prints for $50 each, with 75% of the proceeds being donated to the Karl Stirner Arts Trail organization to support its mission of promoting art, nature, and wellness in the Easton community.

The remaining 25% of the proceeds will contribute to future art exhibitions at Easton Public Market. Megan McBride, the Easton Market District Director of Greater Easton Development Partnership, expressed excitement about sharing Shaughnessy’s visual narrative of the Karl Stirner Arts Trail, emphasizing his passion for photography and the community.

The exhibition, ‘KSAT 2021: A Walkabout,’ will be on display at Easton Public Market until April 6, offering a unique opportunity for the community to experience the trail through Shaughnessy’s lens and support its continued development.

The Karl Stirner Arts Trail, initially funded by a $9 million grant from the state, has evolved into a captivating blend of artistic installations and natural scenery along a 1.5-mile stretch of land alongside the Bushkill Creek. The trail’s conception, spearheaded by Easton advocate Dick McAteer and his friends, aimed to create an outdoor space that seamlessly integrates art with nature, resulting in a unique and enriching experience for visitors.
