E-reader Shortage Impacts Supply Chain in Industry

Lots of e-readers are facing a shortage in supply, with many popular models being sold out and not expected to ship until the end of May or early June. This disruption in the e-reader industry’s supply chain has impacted various companies and brands, including the Meebook M7, Onyx Boox Palma, Hyread Gaze Note CC, the new Bigme dedicated monitor, the SuperNote Nomad, and more.

The shortage is believed to be linked to a lack of E INK screens available for different screen sizes. Major companies placing large orders, like Kobo acquiring all six and seven-inch Kaleido 3 color screens and six-inch screens for the Clara BW, have contributed to the scarcity. As a result, smaller players in the industry are struggling to obtain an adequate supply of screens and components.

While some of these e-reader models may still be found through third-party retailers like Amazon, ordering directly from the vendors may result in encountering a sold-out message. This situation is expected to improve by June as more screens and components are produced and become available for manufacturing.
