Nurses across the country are being celebrated during National Nurses Week, which runs from May 6 to May 12. To show appreciation for their hard work and dedication, Dunkin’ is offering a special treat for nurses on Monday.
On May 6, nurses can enjoy a free medium hot or iced coffee at Dunkin’ with no purchase necessary. This offer excludes certain items like Frozen Coffee, Cold Brew, and Nitro Cold Brew, and additional charges may apply for espresso shots, flavors, dairy alternatives, and cold foam.
One of many establishments participating in National Nurses Week, Dunkin’ joins the likes of Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Firehouse Subs in offering deals and freebies to nurses. This gesture is part of a broader initiative to recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses to society.
National Nurses Week originated from a congressional resolution and presidential proclamation in 1982, with May 6 designated as National Recognition Day for Nurses. The American Nurses Association expanded this to a week-long celebration in 1990, with the official dates set in 1993 for annual observance starting in 1994.
The week includes National School Nurses Day on May 8 and culminates on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, known as the founder of modern nursing. International Nurse Day has been celebrated on this date since 1974.
Throughout National Nurses Week, various businesses and organizations honor nurses for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to patient care. Dunkin’s offer of free coffee serves as a small token of appreciation for the vital role nurses play in healthcare.
