Drive-By Truckers, the renowned American rock band, has announced their Southern Rock Opera Revisited 2024 Tour, where they will perform their ambitious 2001 double album, Southern Rock Opera, in its entirety. The tour is set to kick off with a series of shows in June and July, followed by a break before resuming in the autumn, spanning various locations across North America.
The decision to revisit and perform the album in its entirety was explained by the band’s frontman, Patterson Hood, in an interview with Matt Hendrickson for Garden & Gun. Hood expressed that the timing felt right for this tour, as the band members had been involved in other projects and the idea of revisiting the album had been circulating for years. The band felt the need to follow through with the tour to honor the requests of their fans and deliver a unique and special show.
According to Hood, the setlist for the tour will include songs from the original release, along with a selection of tracks that align with the album’s themes and perspectives. Additionally, each night will feature a distinct encore set, promising a diverse and memorable experience for attendees.
The Southern Rock Opera Revisited 2024 Tour is anticipated to be a one-of-a-kind event, with Hood hinting that it may be the last time the band performs the album in its entirety. As a result, fans are encouraged not to miss this rare opportunity to witness the iconic album brought to life on stage.
