Draymond Green involved in heated on-court altercation during Warriors’ game against Grizzlies
Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors’ forward, found himself at the center of a heated confrontation during the game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the second quarter when Green, defending Salti Aldama, engaged in a heated confrontation and grabbed Aldama’s jersey. Later, during a stoppage, Green, Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins, and guard Desmond Bane were involved in a shoving match, leading to a full scrum. In the chaos, Warriors’ Gary Payton II was pushed into Jenkins, causing him to fall to the ground.
Despite the intense altercation, the situation did not escalate out of control, and both Green and Bane were assessed double technical fouls without any ejections. However, given Green’s history of on-court incidents and suspensions, there is a possibility that he may still face discipline from the league.
Green’s track record includes six suspensions totaling 25 games throughout his career, including a 16-game indefinite suspension earlier this season for a flagrant foul against Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns. As the Warriors are in the midst of a competitive playoff race, they will need Green available to climb the Western Conference ladder. Currently seeded at No. 10, the team aims to secure a higher position in the standings.
While this altercation was relatively minor compared to some of Green’s previous incidents, the NBA closely monitors his conduct on the court. With the playoffs approaching, Green’s availability and any potential disciplinary actions will undoubtedly impact the Warriors’ prospects in the postseason.
