D’Marco Dunn Leads Penn State to Victory Over Rutgers

D’Marco Dunn made a significant impact in the game as he drew into the starting lineup and finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, leading Penn State to a 61-46 victory over Rutgers on Wednesday night in Piscataway, N.J.

The absence of Penn State’s leading scorer, Kanye Clary, due to a face injury suffered in the previous game, paved the way for Dunn to start. Ace Baldwin Jr. also contributed significantly, posting a game-high 15 points, along with seven assists, five rebounds, and five steals for the Nittany Lions (10-11, 4-6 Big Ten).

Rutgers, on the other hand, was led by Gavin Griffiths with 11 points, while Jamichael Davis scored 10 as the Scarlet Knights (10-10, 2-7) suffered their third consecutive loss.

Both teams struggled with their shooting, converting on less than 40 percent of their shots from the floor. However, Rutgers had a particularly tough night, managing to make just 1 of 17 3-point attempts and committing a season-worst 20 turnovers, resulting in a season low in points for the team.

The game started with Rutgers taking an early 6-0 lead and maintaining a 12-5 advantage before Penn State’s comeback. Dunn’s impactful play, including a layup and a 3-pointer, contributed to a 14-2 Penn State stretch, with Baldwin eventually giving Penn State its first lead at 16-15 with a steal and breakaway layup.

Despite Rutgers’ efforts to stay in the game, Penn State managed to maintain control, leading by eight points at one stage. Eventually, Penn State secured a 51-41 lead with 4:46 to go, marking the first double-digit lead of the game.

While both teams faced challenges, it was Penn State that emerged victorious, showcasing resilience and determination throughout the game.
