DJ Akademiks, the popular internet personality, is currently facing serious allegations of rape, sexual assault, and defamation in a new lawsuit filed by Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe. Abashe, who had been in a relationship with Akademiks since meeting him online in 2021, claims that she was assaulted multiple times at his home.
The incident allegedly took place on July 16, 2022, when Abashe visited Akademiks’ house in New Jersey after being invited by him. Upon arrival, she was surprised to find two unidentified men at the house who allegedly drugged her drink and sexually assaulted her on the pool deck. Abashe states that the drugs affected her memory and caused her to lose consciousness during the assault.
Abashe further alleges that she was later raped by Akademiks himself in a bedroom, where she claims he penetrated her anally and vaginally despite her pleas for him to stop. The following day, Abashe discovered condom wrappers in the trash can, indicating to her that the assault had continued in another room with the involvement of the two men.
After viewing surveillance footage of the pool-deck attack, Abashe reportedly felt disturbed by her seemingly lifeless state in the video. Text messages included in the lawsuit suggest that Akademiks advised Abashe to get tested, implying that they engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse that night.
Abashe sought legal counsel and eventually reported the incidents to the authorities. The lawsuit against Akademiks includes detailed accounts of the alleged assaults and interactions between the parties involved.
As of now, Akademiks has not responded to requests for comments regarding the lawsuit. The case highlights the serious nature of the allegations against the internet personality and underscores the importance of addressing issues of sexual assault and consent.
