Devin Booker Scores Season-High 52 Points in Suns’ Victory over Pelicans

Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker put on a show in New Orleans on Friday night, scoring a season-high 52 points in a 123-109 victory over the Pelicans. This marked his second consecutive 50-point game against the Pelicans, as he previously scored 58 points in a game in December 2022. As Booker hit his sixth 3-pointer of the night, he dedicated his performance to his family members, who were in attendance, expressing that they are his main source of motivation.

Booker’s exceptional performance also earned him a spot in the record books as he became the sixth player in NBA history to achieve consecutive 50-point games against a single opponent, joining the ranks of James Harden, Adrian Dantley, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and Wilt Chamberlain. Notably, Chamberlain achieved this feat an astonishing 38 times.

Suns coach Frank Vogel praised Booker’s killer instinct and his ability to perform under pressure, emphasizing his incredible performance as he torched the opposition. Booker’s teammates also contributed to the victory, with Kevin Durant adding 26 points and Jusuf Nurkic grabbing 15 rebounds.

On the other side, the Pelicans, led by Zion Williamson’s 24 points, struggled to keep up with the Suns, particularly due to their poor shooting performance, missing 32 of 42 3-point attempts. Pelicans coach Willie Green expressed his disappointment in his team’s defensive effort and their inability to regain momentum after being initially overwhelmed by the Suns’ performance.

Overall, the Suns’ victory marked their fourth consecutive win, further solidifying their position as a strong contender in the NBA. With Booker’s outstanding performance and the team’s cohesive play, the Suns continue to showcase their potential for a deep playoff run.
