Dengue Outbreak in Turbat Leads to 14 Deaths and over 5,000 Cases

A recent dengue outbreak in Turbat has caused the deaths of 14 individuals, with over 5,000 cases reported in the Kech district of Makran division this year. The district health officer of Kech, Abu-Bakar, confirmed the fatalities and the high number of cases, stating that out of 24,552 individuals screened, 5,329 tested positive for dengue. The deaths occurred in various villages in Turbat, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Despite the alarming statistics, the health department has not yet declared an emergency in Kech district or provided sufficient treatment facilities for patients. This has led to challenges for many patients who are struggling due to the lack of adequate testing and laboratory facilities in both government and private hospitals in the district. Mubarak Baloch, a patient affected by the outbreak, expressed concerns about the difficulties faced by patients in accessing proper care.
