Dead by Daylight Update Causes Photosensitivity Problems for Players

Dead by Daylight players are facing a new challenge following the latest game patch, which has caused photosensitivity problems for some individuals. The recent update not only brought changes to the game engine but also introduced a significant issue that is impacting the gameplay experience for many users.

The 7.7.0 patch for Dead by Daylight has been marred by various issues since its release. Players initially encountered problems during the testing phase, with one killer character being overly dominant before adjustments were made. The subsequent launch of the patch to the live game has unveiled a host of new issues, primarily stemming from the transition to Unreal Engine 5.

One of the most concerning issues reported by players is the presence of strobing effects during matches, where bright white lights flash across the screen. In response to this, developer Behaviour Interactive has issued a statement advising players with photosensitivity, epilepsy, or seizure history to consult a physician before continuing to play the game.

Furthermore, the developer has urged players not to share videos of the issue on social media platforms to prevent any potential health risks associated with viewing the affected footage. Alongside the photosensitivity problem, players have also encountered performance issues such as stuttering and rubber-banding during gameplay, all of which are currently being investigated by the developer.

In light of these issues, a map variant, the Raccoon City Police Station East Wing, has been temporarily disabled due to a bug that caused players to get stuck in-game. This move aims to prevent further disruptions and ensure a smoother gameplay experience for users.

Despite the developer’s assurance that the update would not impact gameplay or graphics, it is evident that the transition to Unreal Engine 5 has had a significant effect on the game’s performance for a considerable number of players. The current focus remains on addressing the photosensitivity issue and resolving other technical challenges to enhance the overall gaming experience.

For more details on the changes introduced in the latest update, players can refer to the official patch notes available on the Dead by Daylight website.
