David Gilmour Announces U.S. Tour and New Album ‘Luck and Strange’

David Gilmour, the legendary artist, is set to embark on his first U.S. tour in eight years, coinciding with the release of his upcoming solo album, ‘Luck and Strange,’ scheduled for September 6. The tour will feature performances at iconic venues such as Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on October 29 and 30, as well as New York City’s Madison Square Garden on November 4 and 5.

A teaser video for the tour has been released, showcasing a mix of classic Pink Floyd tracks like ‘High Hopes,’ new solo material with ‘The Piper’s Call’ from ‘Luck and Strange,’ and the timeless ‘Comfortably Numb.’ This selection hints at a diverse setlist spanning Gilmour’s extensive career, contrary to previous speculations.

For eager fans, tickets for the U.S. shows will be available for purchase starting this week. Early access to tickets at 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday can be secured by signing up on Gilmour’s official website, with general sales opening at 10 a.m. local time on Friday.

Marked as Gilmour’s exclusive North American dates, these concerts follow successful performances at Rome’s Circo Massimo and London’s Royal Albert Hall earlier this year. The lineup for the tour includes renowned musicians such as bassist Guy Pratt, keyboardists Greg Phillinganes and Rob Gentry, drummer Adam Betts, and guitarist Ben Worsley, accompanied by backing vocalists Louise Marshall, Hattie Webb, and Charlie Webb.

Noteworthy is the involvement of Pratt, Betts, and Gentry in the recording of ‘Luck and Strange,’ which took place in Brighton, England, under the production of Charlie Andrew. Gilmour expressed his appreciation for Andrew’s fresh approach to the project, emphasizing the producer’s candid feedback and lack of reverence for Gilmour’s musical legacy.

Furthermore, ‘Luck and Strange’ features lyrics penned by Gilmour’s longtime collaborator and wife, Polly Samson, as well as their son, Charlie. The album also showcases the musical talents of the couple’s daughter, Romany, who contributed with harp and vocals on the track ‘Betwe.’

Stay tuned for more updates on David Gilmour’s highly anticipated U.S. tour and the release of ‘Luck and Strange,’ promising an unforgettable musical experience for fans of his iconic work.
