Cobalt Digital Unveils Advanced ST 2110 Solutions at IBC 2024

Cobalt Digital is set to showcase its latest advancements in ST 2110 technology at the upcoming IBC 2024 event, emphasizing its commitment to providing comprehensive signal processing solutions. The company will present an expanded range of encoders, decoders, and converters designed to enhance the capabilities of media operations across various applications. Attendees can find these innovations at Stand 10.B41 during the exhibition.

One of the key highlights of Cobalt Digital’s offerings is the COBALT INDIGO 2110-DC-01, a factory add-on option for openGear cards. This addition brings native SMPTE 2110 support with 25G Ethernet interfaces, allowing for a complete native ST 2110 stack, including NMOS IS 04/05, to audio and video processing elements. By integrating native ST 2110 interfaces, this solution simplifies management and provides a cost-effective way to handle advanced processing with IP inputs and outputs. This innovation eliminates the need for multiple error-prone devices in the data path and does away with the necessity for an external gateway. When paired with a host card, the INDIGO 2110-DC-01 becomes a powerful product capable of natively processing HD, 3G, and 4K IP streams without compromising quality.

The COBALT INDIGO 2110-DC-01 interface is now available as an add-on to Cobalt’s popular 9905-MPx and 9904-UDX-4K openGear processing cards, offering unmatched density and functionality in the industry.

Another impressive product on display will be the COBALT INDIGO OG-2110-BIDI4-GATEWAY. This bi-directional quad-channel native ST 2110 interface to SDI I/O is designed in the openGear form factor, allowing for independent processing paths within a single unit. The GATEWAY supports simultaneous transmit and receive paths, ensuring seamless operation. It also includes support for ST 2022-7 seamless redundancy switching and IS 04/05 NMOS for automatic discovery and configuration, making it a versatile addition to any media facility.

In addition, Cobalt Digital will introduce the COBALT PACIFIC 9992-ENC-INDIGO at IBC 2024, marking its European debut. This software-definable encoding platform features a factory-installed option for SMPTE ST 2110 input, the INDIGO 2110-DC-02, integrated into the existing PACIFIC 9992-ENC encoder card. This option supports up to four inputs at 3G and lower resolutions or a single input at 4K resolution, complete with full NMOS support. Each encoder channel can be individually configured for either SDI or ST 2110 operation, providing flexibility for diverse broadcast environments.

The combination of the award-winning PACIFIC 9992-ENC and the ST 2110 input interface option creates a robust integrated solution ideal for deployment in ST 2110 facilities. This setup enables local encoding and low-latency transport over the Internet using RIST (Reliable Internet Stream Transport), facilitating efficient media delivery.

Cobalt Digital’s focus on enhancing ST 2110 support underscores its role as a leading provider of signal processing solutions, catering to the evolving needs of the broadcast and media industries. With these innovations, Cobalt aims to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and deliver high-quality media experiences.

As the IBC 2024 event approaches, industry professionals are eager to see how Cobalt Digital’s advancements will shape the future of broadcasting and media production. The company’s commitment to innovation and quality continues to position it as a key player in the rapidly changing landscape of media technology.
