Class Action Lawsuit Against Walmart Offers Up to $500 in Cash for Eligible Shoppers

Attention shoppers, a class action lawsuit against Walmart could mean you’re eligible for up to $500 in cash if you purchased certain groceries from the retail giant in the last six years. The deadline to file a claim is June 5, so act fast to see if you qualify.

The lawsuit, filed in Florida, alleges that Walmart engaged in unfair business practices by falsely inflating the weight of products and overcharging customers for items like meat, poultry, pork, seafood, and bagged citrus fruits. The settlement covers purchases made between Oct. 19, 2018, and Jan. 19, 2024, at Walmart, Walmart Supercenter, or Walmart Neighborhood Market locations in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

According to the settlement terms, eligible customers could receive cash payments of up to $500 based on their total spending on weighted goods and bagged citrus during the specified period. Even if you don’t have receipts or proof of purchase, you may still be eligible for a payout by attesting to your purchases.

If approved, you could receive $10 for up to 50 weighted goods or bagged citrus items purchased, or $15 for 51 to 75 items. The settlement amount varies based on the number of items bought without requiring documentation.

Walmart, while denying the allegations, has agreed to the $45 million settlement to resolve the dispute. A Walmart spokesperson mentioned that the company’s focus remains on providing customers with affordable prices and savings on their purchases.

To check if you qualify for a cash payment and to submit a claim, visit the settlement’s website before the June 5 deadline. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to potentially receive compensation for your past grocery purchases at Walmart.
