Cigarettes After Sex to Perform Live at Milan Forum to Showcase New Album ‘X’s’

Cigarettes After Sex will be performing live at the Milan Forum on Friday, November 1, 2024, to showcase their new album ‘X’s’, released on July 12, 2024, via Partisan Records. The band’s leader, Greg Gonzalez, has poured raw emotions and personal experiences into the new record, focusing on a single relationship that has deeply impacted him over the last four years.

Gonzalez’s creative process for the album was driven by a desire to express and process his emotions through music. He explains, ‘I really have to write about it, sing about it, make music about it and only then can I start analyzing it and learning from it. Or just relive it, in a way. I don’t have that ‘Eternal Sunshine’ thing of wanting to forget.’

The album marks a shift in the band’s sonic influences, moving away from the ’50s and ’60s references to embrace a ’70s/’80s slow dance vibe. This evolution adds a new dimension to their music, infusing it with a reflective energy that resonates with their audience.

Accompanying the album release is the first single, ‘Tejano Blue,’ which pays homage to the music of Gonzalez’s Texas upbringing. He shares, ‘I grew up in El Paso and Tejana music is huge there. You could go to many of the city’s bars and hear artists like Selena, Los Ángeles Azules and La Mafia playing from the speakers.’

Cigarettes After Sex’s music has garnered immense popularity, with over 2.5 million records sold, 3 billion streams on Spotify, over 23 million monthly listeners, and more than 800 million streams on YouTube. Their influence extends to platforms like TikTok, where their music has been used approximately 6.4 billion times, showcasing their widespread impact on contemporary music culture.
