Chipotle Offers Free Guacamole for Leap Day

Chipotle Mexican Grill is gearing up to celebrate Leap Day on February 29 by offering a special treat to its loyal customers. The popular fast-casual chain announced that on this extra day of the year, guacamole will not be an extra charge for Chipotle Rewards members who use the code EXTRA24 when placing digital orders through the Chipotle app or website.

In addition to the free guac offer, Chipotle is also launching an exciting challenge called ‘Extra Day, Extra Codes’ on Instagram from February 26 to February 29. This challenge will give 29 lucky fans the chance to win free guacamole for an entire year.

Extra Day, Extra Codes Challenge

To make the most of the additional day in the 2024 calendar, Chipotle is introducing the ‘Extra Day, Extra Codes’ promotion. This initiative builds on the brand’s tradition of hiding keywords for free food in its Instagram content. Fans will be encouraged to uncover hidden keywords in Chipotle’s Instagram posts and captions leading up to Leap Day for a shot at winning the coveted prize.

How It Works

Starting from February 26 to February 28, fans will have the opportunity to discover 29 keywords hidden in the content and captions on Chipotle’s official Instagram account. Each day, ten keywords will be revealed on February 26 and 27, followed by nine keywords on February 28. The game will commence at 9 am PT each day, and the 366th fan to text the keyword to 888222 will secure free guac for a year from Chipotle. It’s important to note that standard text and data rates will apply.

Stephanie Perdue, Vice President of Brand Marketing at Chipotle, expressed the brand’s enthusiasm for the upcoming celebration, stating, “Our guests understand that ‘guac is extra’ is not just a phrase, it’s a testament to the quality and freshness of our real food. There’s no better way to celebrate an additional day on the calendar than with our iconic guacamole not being extra.”

Chipotle’s Real Guac

Chipotle takes pride in its guacamole, which is crafted using only six real ingredients: Hass avocados, hand-chopped cilantro, red onion, jalapeno, citrus juice, and kosher salt. This delectable and nutritious source of healthy fat is expected to be in high demand, with the company projected to utilize approximately 5.18 million cases of avocados, equivalent to 129.5 million pounds of fruit, across its restaurants in the U.S., Canada, and Europe this year.

It’s worth noting that the free guac offer is valid for a free small side or entrée topping of guac with the purchase of a full-priced entrée item and the use of the code EXTRA24 at the time of order. Each order is limited to one free serving.
