Chicago Spring Half Marathon & 10K to Take Place This Weekend

The LifeTime Chicago Spring Half Marathon & 10K is set to take place this weekend, featuring 8,000 athletes on a slightly modified course. The Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) is urging all participants, residents, and spectators to stay alert and report any suspicious activity during the event.

Motorists and pedestrians in the vicinity should anticipate traffic disruptions and increased foot traffic. The city’s Operation Center will be closely monitoring the event to ensure safety.

The Chicago Spring Half Marathon will kick off at 7 a.m., followed by the 10K at 7:45 a.m. This year, the starting line has been relocated near Jackson, while the finish line has been shifted from Columbus to Monroe.

Street closures will mainly impact the race day on Sunday, with all closures expected to reopen by 6 p.m. Specific closures include eastbound curb lane closure on Randolph, northbound and southbound lane closures on Columbus, and closures along Monroe and DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

Traffic Control Aides (TCAs) will be present to assist with traffic flow, and the use of public transportation is encouraged to ease congestion. For detailed traffic information and CTA services, individuals can visit the official event website.

On Saturday, bridge lifts from Ashland to DuSable Lake Shore Drive will cause delays starting at 8 a.m. due to scheduled boat runs. Additionally, markers and location identifiers along Grant Park and the lakefront are in place to aid in public safety and emergency response.
