Chicago Sky players enjoy Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash festival after recent loss

Chicago Sky players Angel Reese and Kysre Gondrezick were spotted enjoying the Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash music festival in Chicago following their recent 91-83 loss to the Indiana Fever. Despite the defeat, Reese and Gondrezick took some time off to immerse themselves in the festival atmosphere.

Reese, who delivered an impressive 11-point, 13-rebound performance in the game against Caitlin Clark and the Fever, shared a glimpse of their festival experience on an Instagram story.

The rivalry between the Sky and the Fever has been escalating, especially with the notable presence of former college stars Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. Clark played a pivotal role in leading the Fever to their second victory over the Sky, scoring 23 points on 7-for-11 shooting, in addition to contributing eight rebounds and nine assists.

During the game, a controversial moment unfolded when Reese made contact with Clark’s head while attempting a block, resulting in Reese being called for a flagrant 1 foul.

Despite the loss, Angel Reese showcased her talent by tying the WNBA rookie record with her sixth consecutive double-double, recording 11 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. However, she faced challenges with her shooting accuracy, going 4-of-13 from the field and accumulating five fouls.

Post-game, Reese expressed her discontent with the officiating, suggesting that certain players received favorable calls. She emphasized the team’s efforts to play to the best of their abilities.

In terms of free throws, the Sky went 12-for-14, while the Fever managed 13-for-19. Caitlin Clark displayed accuracy by converting all six of her free throw attempts, with Reese also contributing by making three successful free throws.

Marina Mabrey led the Sky with 22 points, supported by Kamilla Cardoso’s double-double performance of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Chennedy Carter added 18 points, while Dana Evans contributed 12 points off the bench.

On the Fever’s side, Aliyah Boston stood out with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Kelsey Mitchell and Nalyssa Smith added 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Earlier this month, Angel Reese faced an ejection during the Sky’s game against the New York Liberty after receiving two quick technical fouls, with the second one later being rescinded by the WNBA.

Following the recent game, the Chicago Sky’s record stands at 4-9, while the Indiana Fever improved to 5-10 in the season.
