ChatGPT Dominates AI Searches, Google Gemini Emerges as Surprise Contender

A recent study conducted by Superside, a creative subscription service, has provided new insights into the AI tools that people are searching for online. While ChatGPT continues to dominate the AI scene, the results reveal some unexpected contenders in the rankings.

According to the study, OpenAI’s ChatGPT remains the most searched AI tool in the United States, attracting an impressive 25 million searches each month. However, the surprise comes with the second-place contender: Google’s Gemini, which garners approximately 1.5 million searches per month. Despite its lower search volume, Gemini’s performance indicates a growing interest among users, especially considering its recent challenges, including the shutdown of its image generator shortly after launch.

The study’s findings suggest that Gemini’s visibility may be on the rise, possibly linked to its association with Google’s latest AI-centered devices, such as the Google Pixel 9. Although the data was collected before the launch of these devices, the anticipation surrounding them could have contributed to increased searches for Gemini. Furthermore, the rollout of Gemini to all Android devices may also enhance its visibility and usage in the near future.

Interestingly, other well-known names in the AI sector, such as Character.ai, Claude, and Suno, did not make it into the top 15 most-searched-for AI tools. The study also revealed that Microsoft’s Copilot ranks third among the most searched AI tools, with around 368,000 searches per month. Following Copilot, other notable mentions include Perplexity and Brave Search, rounding out the top five. The remaining spots in the top ten are filled by brands like Phind, Algolia, You, and YouCha, each contributing to the diverse ecosystem of AI tools available today.
