Celebrating the Iconic Porsche 911 Turbo 964 from ‘Bad Boys’ at the Porsche Experience Center

Almost 30 years ago, moviegoers flocked to theaters to watch the iconic film Bad Boys, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The movie is remembered for its witty banter between the two leads and thrilling action sequences, but for many, a standout memory is the stunning Porsche 911 Turbo 964 driven by Smith’s character, Mike Lowrey.

The Porsche has become synonymous with the Bad Boys franchise, making a return in the upcoming fourth installment, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, set to hit theaters on June 7. To celebrate this partnership, Sony Pictures invited MotorTrend for an exclusive experience at the Porsche Experience Center in Carson, California, where attendees got the chance to ‘drive like Mike Lowrey.’

During the event, props and vehicles from previous Bad Boys films, including a 964 Porsche 911, were on display. Participants also had the opportunity to explore various activities offered at the Porsche Experience Center, with the highlight being an autocross session featuring the 718 Cayman GTS on the dynamics pad.

Competition was fierce as participants vied for the best time, with strict rules in place – a single touch of a cone meant disqualification. Despite not clinching the top spot, attendees were treated to a surprise visit from Smith and Lawrence, who convinced the staff to give some participants a second chance. While some seized the opportunity and improved their times, others faced challenges, such as hitting a cone at a crucial moment.

Following the autocross session, participants had the chance to experience the kickplate feature in a 911 Carrera. This unique setup, controlled by a computer, simulates a loss of rear wheel traction just before the vehicle encounters a water-soaked surface, challenging drivers to react swiftly and maintain control. The element of unpredictability added an exhilarating twist to the driving experience.

The day concluded with a thrilling ride alongside one of the Center’s instructors in a Porsche 911 Turbo S, navigating the 1.3-mile handling course at full speed. The high-performance capabilities of the vehicle provided an adrenaline-pumping finale to the event, leaving participants with lasting memories of their time ‘driving like Mike Lowrey’ at the Porsche Experience Center.
