Cate Blanchett to Star as Lilith in Borderlands Film Adaptation

Cate Blanchett is set to take on the role of the infamous outlaw Lilith in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game series, Borderlands. In an exclusive first look provided by PEOPLE, Blanchett is seen sporting a striking red hairstyle and a combat-ready appearance as she embodies the character of Lilith.

The film follows Lilith as she returns to her planet Pandora in search of the missing daughter of Atlas, portrayed by Edgar Ramírez. Teaming up with a group of outcasts, including former soldier Roland played by Kevin Hart, pre-teen demolitionist Tiny Tina portrayed by Ariana Greenblatt, Tina’s bodyguard Krieg played by Florian Munteanu, scientist Tannis portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis, and robot Claptrap portrayed by Jack Black, the team embarks on a mission that leads them to battle alien monsters and bandits across Pandora.

Blanchett’s involvement in the project was announced in May 2020, with filming commencing in April 2021 in Hungary and concluding in June of the same year. The movie, directed by Eli Roth and distributed by Lionsgate, is set to hit theaters on August 9, 2024.

As the anticipation builds for the release of Borderlands, fans are eager to witness Blanchett’s portrayal of the fierce and enigmatic Lilith, alongside a star-studded cast that promises an action-packed and visually stunning cinematic experience.
