Capcom has revealed some early results after receiving over 200,000 votes from fans in their Super Election campaign, where they surveyed fans on their thoughts about the company and which games they would like to see sequels, reboots, or new entries for. The results are shown as a giant word bubble representing the most popular words and titles used by the fans in the election. The words mentioned more appear larger in the image, giving a scale of how many people were asking for certain games or series.
Outside of Capcom themselves and ‘thank you’, the most popular words are Mega Man and Dino Crisis, followed by Resident Evil and Ace Attorney. Street Fighter appears in the next rank down, along with Darkstalkers, indicating a strong interest from fighting game fans. Other games featured in the voting options for wanted sequels include Devil May Cry, Vs. Capcom, Final Fight, Breath of Fire, and more.
Interestingly, ‘Rival’ and ‘Schools’ are both mentioned almost as much as more popular series like Dead Rising, Dragon’s Dogma, and Breath of Fire, despite not being together. Rival Schools wasn’t on the sequel options for voting but was included in the potential remakes category, while Power Stone remains absent entirely.
Moving down another size for words, Marvel is mentioned, and Capcom vs. SNK and Alien vs. Predator are also included. In the Japanese version of the word rankings, Rival Schools appears to be the most mentioned fighting game over Street Fighter, indicating its popularity among Japanese fans. Vampire (Darkstalkers) and SNK are also mentioned, showing a strong representation of fighting games in the survey results.
While it’s uncertain whether these survey results will lead to actual game releases, the strong representation of fighting games in the survey is encouraging for fans of the genre.
