Canon has officially announced the development of its flagship camera, the EOS R1. This announcement comes just in time for the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, allowing the company to test the camera with select photographers in sports and action environments.
While details about the EOS R1 are scarce, Canon has emphasized that the camera will showcase cutting-edge technology, top-class performance, and the durability expected from a flagship model. The camera is designed to enhance both still image and video capture capabilities, catering to professionals in various fields such as sports, news reporting, and video production.
One of the key highlights of the EOS R1 is the utilization of a newly developed image processor named the DIGIC Accelerator, which works alongside the existing DIGIC X processor and a new CMOS sensor. This combination enables rapid data processing and introduces advancements in Auto Focus (AF) and other functions.
Canon’s integration of deep learning technology into the new image processing system has resulted in improved subject recognition accuracy and high-speed performance. Notably, the EOS R1 aims to elevate subject tracking accuracy to meet the demands of professionals across different industries.
