BYD Confirms First European Factory in Hungary and Launches All-Electric Saloon

BYD, the Chinese car manufacturing giant, has made a significant move in the European market with the confirmation of its first European factory in Szeged, Hungary. The new manufacturing and production center is set to become operational in the second half of the decade, laying the groundwork for BYD’s ambition to be Europe’s largest EV seller by 2030.

BYD’s strategic focus on the European market is evident with the launch of its latest model, the all-electric saloon BYD Seal. Positioned as a flagship product, the BYD Seal is aimed at discerning consumers seeking an executive driving experience, competing with established models like the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and BMW i4.

Building on the success of its Atto 3 SUV and Dolphin hatchback, the BYD Seal has made a notable entrance into the market, showcasing impressive performance credentials in the competitive D segment. Equipped with the e-Platform 3.0 and a larger 82.5kWh battery pack, the BYD Seal offers a range of 354 miles and accelerates from 0-62mph in just 5.9 seconds in its Design version. The Excellence model, featuring dual motors and all-wheel drive, boasts 523bhp and a range of 323 miles, distinguishing itself with a 3.8-second acceleration capability.
