Blackmagic Design Unveils DaVinci Resolve 19 with AI Tools and Over 100 Feature Upgrades
Blackmagic Design has unveiled DaVinci Resolve 19, a significant update to its popular editing software. This new version introduces a host of new features and improvements, including AI tools, over 100 feature upgrades, and enhancements to the ColorSlice six vector grading, film look creator FX, multi source editing, and Fairlight AI audio panning to video, among others.
Grant Petty, the CEO of Blackmagic Design, provided detailed insights into the updates during a live stream. The new DaVinci Resolve 19 brings enhanced capabilities for editors, colorists, and VFX artists. For instance, editors can now directly work with transcribed audio to locate speakers and edit timeline clips, while colorists can achieve rich film-like tones with the ColorSlice six vector palette and create cinematic images using the new film look creator effect.
In the audio domain, the IntelliTrack AI in Fairlight allows for motion tracking and automatic audio panning. VFX artists in Fusion can benefit from an expanded set of USD tools and a new multipoly rotoscoping tool. Moreover, the cut page has been equipped with new broadcast replay tools for live multi-camera broadcast editing, playout, and replay with speed control.
Blackmagic Cloud, the company’s cloud service, now includes an Organizations app that enables larger companies to define a single organization or company. This allows customers to create groups or teams and quickly share projects within the entire group. The app also facilitates storage access management, presentations sharing, and single sign-on. Additionally, it offers the ability to purchase or rent DaVinci Resolve Studio licenses, making it easier for companies to manage license allocation within large groups and associate licenses with specific projects.
Improvements to the transcription workflow have been made, enabling editors to edit clips based on transcribed text directly on the timeline. The analyzer can now detect multiple voices, allowing customers to assign names to different speakers and refine text-based search and replacement operations.
Moreover, the cut page now supports real-time selection of live camera recordings for instant replay to air with slow motion and stingers. The new multi-source viewer allows customers to view all their live cameras or clips with a common timecode in a single multiview screen. They can scrub, play, and select shots to add to the timeline or play to air, with the ability to switch live from any available angles.
