Billy Dee Williams to Release New Memoir

Billy Dee Williams, the legendary Star Wars actor, is set to release his new memoir, What Have We Here?: Portraits of A Life, on February 13. In this upcoming memoir, Williams candidly discusses various aspects of his life, shedding light on lesser-known details and experiences.

One of the intriguing instances he delves into in the book is when Marlon Brando made a romantic advance towards him at a star-studded party hosted by Brando. Williams, known for his romantic lead roles in films like Lady Sings the Blues and Mahogany, reveals that he has been the subject of romantic advances from individuals of various sexual orientations throughout his life.

Despite the proposition from Brando, Williams declined, stating, “I prefer women.” This revelation offers a glimpse into the actor’s personal life and preferences.

Williams’ openness extends beyond this particular encounter. In a 2019 Esquire interview, he discussed his perspective on gender identity and sexuality, expressing that he sees himself as both “feminine as well as masculine.” His experiences and relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including his close friendship with the late James Baldwin, a celebrated Black writer who was gay, have contributed to his broad-minded outlook.

Despite his personal preferences, Williams emphasizes his respect for individuals’ identities and is more focused on connecting with interesting people, regardless of their orientation.

For more captivating insights into the life and loves of Billy Dee Williams, readers can look forward to the release of the upcoming memoir What Have We Here?: Portraits of A Life on February 13.
