Billionaire Joe Lewis Pleads Guilty, NRL Clubs Seek Meeting, Netflix Unveils Rugby Documentary Series

British billionaire Joe Lewis, the founder of ENIC Sports Inc, which owns the majority of shares in Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, appeared in a Manhattan court today to plead guilty to two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud. The charges against Lewis revolve around the alleged use of inside information about companies to provide tips to friends and associates (THE ATHLETIC, 1/24).

Meanwhile, Australian National Rugby League clubs including the Brisbane Broncos, South Sydney, Sydney Roosters, and Manly Sea Eagles have requested a meeting with Australian Rugby League Commission Chair Peter V’landys to address various issues related to their scheduled Las Vegas season opener in March. These issues include visas and the NRL’s financial contributions to the teams for the trip (BRISBANE TIMES, 1/24).

On a different note, Netflix has unveiled an eight-part documentary series titled ‘Six Nations: Full Contact,’ offering an insider’s look at last year’s Six Nations Rugby competition. Produced by Box to Box Films, the series delves into the personal stories of players and coaches from each team, featuring individuals such as Louis Rees-Zammit, a potential NFL prospect (BBC.com, 1/24).
