Ben Shelton Advances to Third Round of Australian Open

American tennis player Ben Shelton advanced to the third round of the Australian Open after defeating Australian Christopher O’Connell in a thrilling match at Melbourne Park on Wednesday night. The No 16 seed, Shelton, secured his victory with a 6-4, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (5) scoreline and is now set to face the winner of the match between Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 20 seed, and Spaniard Jaume Munar in the next round.

Shelton’s triumph comes amidst ongoing discussions about his previous encounter with Novak Djokovic at the US Open last year. The 21-year-old American has been making waves in the tournament, having also defeated Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the lead-up to his recent victory.

Other second-round results at Melbourne Park include various matchups such as Emil Ruusuvuori vs. Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune vs. Arthur Cazaux, Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Hugo Grenier, and many more, showcasing the intense competition and talent on display at the Grand Slam event.
