Asus Unveils Upgraded ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 at CES 2024

The highly anticipated CES 2024 has brought some exciting news for gaming laptop enthusiasts. Asus has unveiled the latest additions to its renowned ROG Zephyrus lineup, with the G14 and G16 receiving significant upgrades and makeovers. These new models promise to deliver enhanced performance, sleek designs, and improved versatility, catering to both gaming and non-gaming tasks.

One of the most striking changes in the 2024 redesign is the introduction of new aluminum builds for the G14 and G16, accompanied by a more compact and streamlined hinge design. The laptops now feature 16:10 OLED screens, offering impressive resolutions of 2880 x 1800 at 120Hz for the G14 and 2560 x 1600 at 240Hz for the G16. Additionally, users can expect larger trackpads and keyboards, a new fast-charging port with a reversible plug, and upgraded audio setups with six speakers, even in the smaller 14-inch model. The inclusion of new chips, ranging from AMD’s Ryzen 8000 series in the G14 to Intel’s Meteor Lake in the G16, along with up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM, further enhances the performance capabilities of these laptops.

One of the standout features of the new Zephyrus models is the addition of a sleek strip of customizable white lighting on their lids, providing a visually appealing and customizable touch.

While the GPUs in the G14 and G16 remain unchanged from the previous generation, utilizing last year’s Nvidia discrete graphics cards, they still offer impressive performance. The G14 can be configured with up to an RTX 4070, while the G16 goes up to the 4090, supporting advanced features such as DLSS 3.5, Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction.

Having had the opportunity to test early preview models of both the ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16, the improvements are evident. The new designs not only offer enhanced aesthetics but also contribute to a more premium look and feel. Despite the thinner form factor, there are no apparent compromises in terms of thermals or usability, with the G14 weighing just 3.31 pounds and the G16 at a manageable 4.3 pounds in its 4080 or 4090 configuration.

Overall, the latest iterations of the ROG Zephyrus laptops from Asus have raised the bar in terms of design, performance, and functionality, making them compelling choices for both gaming enthusiasts and users seeking powerful and versatile computing devices.
