Apple’s Cycle Tracking App to Display Gestational Age for Expectant Mothers

Apple’s Cycle Tracking app is set to introduce a new feature that will display the gestational age of a user’s pregnancy, as revealed during the WWDC 2024 event. This enhancement aims to provide expectant mothers with valuable information about the progress of their pregnancy.

Gestational age is a crucial metric that indicates how far along a pregnancy is, calculated from the first day of a woman’s last menstrual period. While the current version of the app allows users to input their pregnancy details for cycle tracking purposes, it does not offer information on gestational age.

Additionally, the Health app will now prompt pregnant users to review essential wellness metrics, such as their high heart rate notification threshold. It is common for heart rate to rise during pregnancy, and monitoring this metric can help ensure the well-being of both the mother and the baby.

These updates are expected to be implemented with the release of iOS 18, which is scheduled to debut in September. Apple users can look forward to accessing these new features that cater to the unique needs of expectant mothers.
