Apple Music Surpasses Spotify Among Apple Device Owners

The competition between Apple Music and Spotify has been heating up over the years, with each service vying for the attention of music lovers. A recent report by CIRP sheds light on the preferences of Apple device owners when it comes to music streaming services.

In 2023, Spotify was reported to have 44 million paid subscribers in the US, surpassing Apple Music’s 32 million subscribers. However, when focusing on customers with Apple devices, the tables turn in favor of Apple Music. According to CIRP’s data, 40% of Apple owners opt for Apple Music, while 29% choose Spotify. Moreover, Apple Music has shown a slightly higher growth rate, increasing its subscriber base by 6% from 2020 to 2024, compared to Spotify’s 5% growth.

Interestingly, Amazon Music and Pandora experienced a decline in users during the same period, with a 6% and 4% drop, respectively. This shift in user preferences could be attributed to various factors, including pricing and features offered by each service.

Recently, Spotify raised its prices, making it $3 more expensive than Apple Music for family plans and $1 more for individual subscriptions. In addition to pricing, Apple Music appeals to Apple device owners due to its seamless integration, premium features, and the option to bundle it with other Apple services.

Are you team Apple Music or team Spotify? Have you made the switch between the two services? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
